The Worcester State University Criminal Justice Department is staffed with a diverse faculty, dedicated to helping students reach beyond their perceived limits and gain a thirst for lifelong learning. Rarely is passive learning used. Each faculty member brings knowledge, depth and breadth and passion to their teaching. With nearly 500 students, 50 minors, our faculty has experience in law, corrections, public administration, policing, courts, juvenile justice, serial killers, comparative criminal justice and victims. We are embarking on an expansion into Security Studies.
With a CJ Honor Society, CJ Club, Guest Speakers and Internships. WSU offers a wide view for future practitioners in the CJ system and the helping fields.
We encourage students to seek experiential learning, through internships, job shadowing and international study. Students have studied in Washington, DC, France, Thailand, Ireland, England, Hawaii, and Australia. Other students have taken advantage of the 4+ 1 Masters progam with Nichols College. Students in the Master of Counter-terrorism can take classes in Maastricht, The Netherlands and earn a second Masters in Business from the Maastricht School of Management.
Students have taken advantage of two 3+3 agreements for law school, at UMass Law School and Western New England Law.
We are finalizing an agreement for another 4+1 Masters in Criminal Justice with Bridgewater State University.
