I was asked by the Head of UL Law School, Dr. Shane Kilcommins, and the Fulbright Ambassador at UL, Dr. Jean McCarthy, to deliver a talk on  August 8.  I am pulling thoughts together, entitling it:

Lessons for Leading - Implications for Policy and Organizations:

Comparing Government Reports on Policing in Ireland and the US.

With concerns for reforms and improvement for police in the US and Ireland, two review panels were formed by the respective governments, leading to the issuance of reports,

The President's Task Force on 21st Century Policing was released in 2016. The Commission on the Future of Policing in Ireland released their report in 2018.

I look forward to comparing the two reports to look at differences and similarities between our two countries and working to improve the approaches to policing in Ireland and the US.

There is much that can be learned from the reports.

I look forward to the opportunity to meet and engage with faculty, students and members of An Garda Siochana at UL!
